Pirate Party Theme is an excellent ideas for boys and girls looking for excitement and adventure. There is lots of room for your creativity in a pirate-themed pirate party so make sure you enjoy the process!
1. Pirate Party Decorations: Theme Colors
The classic color for a Pirate party theme is Red, White and Black. Blue is another good color to add if you want to make it more special. Here is one convenient kit for red-and-white balloons, crepe streamers and curly ribbons for overall decoration needs. You can always add other black pirate decorations, e.g. a pirate flag or pirate hat, to complete the color theme.
2. Pirate Party Decorations
A quick and easy way to transform the room into a pirate paradise is — yes — big and prominent props!
An obvious candidate is a pirate party banner, a treasure box center piece, or this 28″ mylar pirate treasure balloon.
The pirate flag banner and danglers can work wonders to your party room as well.
3. Check Out These Scene Setters!
For a more elaborate decoration, my favorites is the pirate and bandit props: 4 huge 2-D figurines (measured 46″ – 62″) with sticky tacks that you can attach on the wall.
Other cool interesting scene setter includes a “private ship and island” and ”private hideaway” (measured 61″ x 66″) that can be easily mix and match with the rest of the scene setters.

4. Pirate Party Invitations
Here is one of the cheerful pirate party invitations that matches with all your pirate party supplies.
Do check out the other cool designs with a wide variety of color themes and styles.
5. Pirate Party Costumes
The Pirate party theme provides a great opportunity to dress up — make sure you take full advantage of that!
Pirate Costume For The Celebrant & Host
For the birthday boy and girl, this full-blown pirate party costume will fit them perfectly! If you prefer something simpler, the pirate vest and hat with a variety of choices will be a good choice.
For the host (you!), I would totally get myself this cute little shoulder parrot (see below) to greet all your guest.
Pirate Outfit For The Guests
Again, the hat will be a great choice for your guests — those with simpler designs cost only $1-2 each which should be pretty affordable.
Otherwise, get them each a pirate party mask or a pirate flag which are even cheaper.
6. Pirate Party Supplies
For the plates, I will go for the 10″ pirate map party plates which is a wonderful game in and of itself. Let the little pirates’ imagination explode as they hide the cookies under the spaghetti, and transport their M&M treasures from one plate to another…
For napkins, you can choose from these cool designs based on your chosen color themes.
7. Pirate Party Games
This game will be the best choice for young kids. This will simply be putting all the goodies in the treasure box centerpiece.
If you prefer, a mega treasure chest (with a durable, plastic treasure box and 500+ gifts) or its value-pack version is ready to go.
This hassle-free Pirate party game set is good for 2-12 players. The set comes with instructions, and actually, it is so simple that the kids can figure out themselves!
(iii) Mini Treasure Hunt
This game involves a bit of preparation, but your little guests will love it! Hide treasures around the party room and provide the little privates with a map of the room, giving them hints here and there.
For bigger kids you can hide a series of hints (e.g. in the form of hand-written notes) to lead them to the grand prize.
(iv) Cast Away And Walk The Plank
Walk along a beam to play cast away with this inflatable sword. You can even provide each little pirate a sword for a mini tournament — but make sure the kids don’t get out of hand!
A Pinata is always fun and a highlight event for the big and small. This treasure chest pinata will be the most appropriate for your pirate party theme. Enjoy!
8. Pirate Party Favors
The pirate party simply can’t end without some cool favors! Pirate party tattoos, vinyl treasure map and the coin chocolate candies are popular choices — and perfect if kept in a private favor boxes!

Have you ever thought about a mock funeral party as a 50th birthday party idea for your spouse?
If the celebrant can take the joke, it might as well be the most hilarious party ever.
Why A Funeral Party?
- A unique way to celebrate his/her first 50 years of life
- The party is guaranteed to be thought provoking, unique and memorable
- While this is a mock funeral party, please remember that it is afterall a joyful event and an excellent opportunity to highlight the positive side of aging e.g. many years of friendship
Why NOT A Funeral Party?
- If you aren’t sure whether the birthday person can take the joke, this may not be a good idea. Both the celebrant and the guests need a sense of humor for this type of “special” party theme.
- Also, please make sure that the birthday person has not recently experienced the loss of a close friend or family members. The party loses its humor if it hits too close to home.
1. Funeral Party Decor
Stick With Black And You Are All Set
If you decide to go ahead, then The basic funeral party decoration is very simple: the black crepe paper is quite effective in creating a funeral theme. I wouldn’t bother to get the curling ribbons and balloons because they just don’t seem to fit the funeral party theme.
If you are using disposble utenstils, then you can consider getting these black cutlery, napkins, cups and plates… or simply go to this page for black-themed party supplies.
Recycling Some Halloween Party Supplies?
Obviously, not every Halloween props will work, but if you have a tombstone or a coffin, it will serve as an excellent centerpiece.
Be Creative!
You don’t need to spend a fortune to create a fantastic mock funeral party. Here are some ideas for you:
- Adorn your party room with white lilies
- Get a CD with organ music
- Dig out an old photo of the birthday person (in his/her youth) and blow it up to letter size. Don’t forget to place flowers around the photos as well.
If you want an elaborate funeral party, you might even hold the party in a funeral home for a “real” experience!
2. Funeral Party Invitations
DIY is probably the best way in terms of funeral party invitations.
Tips: Please remember to state the dress code: for a typical funeral party, the code can simply be black and white, but it is helpful to specify the funeral theme so the guests know what to expect!
3. Funeral Party Preparation
Prepare a obituary and place it near the entrance or the centerpiece. Also, prepare a eulogy and ask one of the guests to read it.
Here are a few links that will help you in writing an obituary and eulogy:
Don’t forget to add some humor to it. Afterall it’s only a mock funeral!
4. Funeral Party Cake Ideas
A tombstone cake is classic and easy to make! Follow these instructions:
1. Bake round cake and a rectangular cake. The width of the rectangular cake should be equal to the diameter of the round cake.
2. Cut the round cake in half — we’ll only use half of it.
3. Attach the half-round cake to the rectangular cake.
4. Frost the entire cake in grey or white, and write R.I.P. with melted dark chocolate or black decorating icing.
5. Done!
5. Funeral Party Favors
How about candy bars with personalized candy wrappers? It is affordable yet fully customizable to your special party. You can find out how to order personalized candy bars here.

I specialize in party supplies reviews and let me tell you that Blues Clues party supplies are one of the hottest birthday items for this age group. In other words, you are in luck because there are lots of wonderful products waiting for you to discover!
Let’s Start With Party Decorations
First of all, let’s talk about color themes, because the color is essential in creating the mood for any parties. For this special party, it is a no-brainer that the color has to be blue. But if you want to go out of the ordinary, you can choose to pick two shades of blue — for example, cyan and dark blue, or royal blue with navy blue. You can get the balloons, ribbons and crepe streamers in a whole spectrum of colors in one of the online specialty party supplies stores.
Blue Clues Party Supplies For Finishing Touches
Obviously, you want the “Blues Clues face” somewhere in the room to make the party truly special for your little child. If this is the case, then I would recommend the wall stickers featuring the dog itself. I have two choices for you — either a pack of 5 large prints of the dog, or a pack of 22 with smaller prints. Either one is great so pick your own based on your party room’s size and style.
Blues Clues Party Supplies For the Food
To get the kids excited at the party table, you’ve got to have a full set of party plates, cups and paper napkins (remember to match the theme with blue color cutlery sets!) Besides the basic, you may want to consider the cute centerpiece featuring the adorable dog and its friends.
For the cake, we’ve got two choices of cake toppers that you can easily use to transform an ordinary dessert into a customized cake with the favorite characters. If you find the time to bake your own cake, you may even want to get this Blues Clues cake pan to create a one-of-a-kind cake for your little celebrant. Just imagine the beam and the big smile!

Click to learn about the author: Stephanie HopkinsColoring Contest: Is It Good Or Bad For Kids?
Coloring contests are quite popular for young children, but there are times when we as parents question the worthiness of such kind of competition.
In fact, the bigger question is: what’s the point of coloring and why spend the time on coloring pages instead of, say, read a book or learn counting from 1 to 10?
Why Coloring Contests Are Great For Kids
First of all, I have to say I am a big fan of coloring and here are my thoughts on the benefits to the children:
1. Encourage Creativity and Self-expression
One may think that coloring is probably not as creative as drawing, painting or even scribbling. However, in my opinion, coloring is a wonderful way to show creativeness in the form of colors as well as coloring “style”.
If we take a closer look, each child has their own way of filling their coloring sheets — some do it quickly, some do it neatly, and some even love to add interesting patterns and details… in short, it is a wonderful channel of self-expression.
2. Reveal Your Children’s Thoughts
Children typically pick a certain range of colors based on their mood — for example, my daughter uses bright colors such as orange, yellow and her favorite color pink when she is cheerful; blue when she is relaxed, and brownish and grey when she is not happy.
Each child has his own “color scheme” and we need to take the time to observe what colors represent the specific mood of the child, but it is definitely true that colors can help reveal what the children are thinking. This is very important considering many young children have yet mastered their verbal language ability.
3. Introduce Color Recognition
Coloring is most likely your children’s first lesson of the color wheel, and their first laboratory to test the mixture of colors, the creation of color spectrum, and the use of different coloring media such as crayons, colored pencils, markers, water-based paints, glitter glue and all sorts of interesting tools. This discovery is crucial for the children’s appreciation of the objects and the world around them.
4. Practice Control and Coordination
Coloring is an excellent (and fun) way to practice the grip, as well as the coordination between the eyes and the little hands. This is an important step towards the proper grip for writing in the future.
5. Develop Sense Of Achievement
You may think your kids are just scribbling, but in many cases, finishing a coloring sheet (in their own style) is a great sense of achievement. Indeed, coloring is a lot of work for the little hands and mind — they have to pick the colors, hold the crayons properly and probably to color within the boundaries… so they must be excited when they complete their masterpiece!
6. Improve Focus Skill
Many of us use the coloring pages simply to keep our children occupied at the dining table. When you think about it, coloring is actually a good training for our children to keep focus and concentrated on their work. As they grow bigger and go to school, there will be a need to stay engaged in the task at hand, and coloring is a stress-free way to develop this skill set.
7. De-stress
Parents nowadays are looking for different ways to simulate our children. The kids are probably smarter now, but the flip side is that they can get stressed out more easily.
So coloring is a natural way for them to de-stress: they can do something at their own pace, in their own style, and most importantly, without the necessary evil to follow instructions and the nagging from mom, dad and the teachers.
I think children do need a time each day to distress, and coloring is one of the best ways to accomplish that.
Conclusion
I think coloring is an activity as important as number counting and book reading. So next time when you prepare the coloring sheets for your children, try not to think of it as just a convenient way to keep them occupied — the activity is fun, healthy and educational in and of itself!
Click to learn about the author: Rachel T.Pirate Party Ideas: 3 Recommendations To Kickstart Your Party Planning
Looking for some unique and hassle-free pirate party ideas? You have come to the right place! Let me walk you through my recommendations on the decorations, the props and party supplies for an amazing pirate party.
1. Pirate Party Ideas For Decorations
First of all, the first thing you can do is to pick a color theme to set the mood for your party. For a classic pirate party, the color is red, white and black — with a touch of sea blue color if preferred. For bold colors like these, balloons, crepe streamers and curling ribbons can be very effective. Don’t forget a big cheerful “Happy Birthday” letter banner to complete the setting!
If you are hosting a pirate party for bigger children, you can use a color tone that resembles a vintage pirate map (white, black, brown) to create a more adventurous, exciting mood. Instead of the usual birthday balloons and streamers, you can consider the “scene setter” which works much better for this theme in my opinion.
What are scene setters? They are essentially a very large piece of vinyl sheet that can be attached to any wall using sticky tacks. A classic scene setter would be a pirate and bandits figurines that can instantly transform the room into a pirate paradise. You can also add a “pirate hideaway”, together with sunken ships, skull islands and explosions… the combination (and the fun of mixing and matching) is endless.
Once the major decoration is done, you can take the time to add the details, such as a pirate hat in the corner, pirate flag banners hanging from the ceiling, and of course, a treasure chest centerpiece.
2. Pirate Party Ideas For The Celebrant, Host And Guests
Pirate party gives the perfect opportunity to dress up, so make sure you have some interesting props handy. For the birthday boy, you might want to invest in a full-blown pirate costume. He is going to beam with joy on his Big Day! For you as the host, I would refrain from elaborate dresses because, well, being a host is busy and needs to run around a lot! I would recommend something funny, such as a big eye-patch or a shoulder toy parrot. What a delightful way to greet your guests!
For the guests, why not stating a “pirate dress code” in the party invitation? It saves you time and money on the props, and both you and the guests will enjoy commenting and laughing at each other on the wildly different pirate designs. Another idea: you can hold a competition on the “best-dressed” and the “funniest dressed” too!
3. Pirate Party Ideas For Food And The Cake
You can easily get pirate-themed cups, napkins and plates for the food and snacks. If you are using disposable cutlery, don’t forget to match the color with that of your party theme.
For the cake, I have seen some very impressive pirate cakes along the theme of pirate ships, pirate hat, treasure chest, the skull, and even a 3-D treasure map! I strong suggest that you go to Google, search under images and get some amazing ideas.
